The Dear Editor Monk
A collection of letters to the editor by Fr. Aloysius Plaisance, O.S.B.
Fr. Aloysius Plaisance, O.S.B., (1920-1992) a monk of Saint Bernard Abbey in Cullman, Alabama, was a prolific writer throughout his life. Holding a Ph.D. in History, he wrote historical articles, a regular travel column in the local newspaper The Cullman Times, and frequent Letters to the Editor, especially to The Birmingham News. In 1983, Father Aloysius gathered together fifty-one of his Letters to the Editor that had appeared in The Birmingham News between 1977 and 1982 and published them in a slender, softcover book entitled The Dear Editor Monk. Now, we at the Saint Bernard Scriptorium are happy to bring this little volume back into print, supplemented with additional Letters to the Editor which Father Aloysius wrote between 1983 and 1989.
